Crotalus basiliscus (Mexican West Coast Rattlesnake)
C. basiliscus are found in along the western coast of Mexico. They live in coastal plains foothills, and valleys ate elevations ranging from 600 meters to 2400 meters. On average they are about 1.25 meters in length, but can grow to be up to 2 meters. C. basiliscus eat a variety of small mammals. Their venom is not well classified, but one of their PLA2s have been partially sequenced and is known to have neurotoxic effects.
